The stickler and the native doctor

 A long time ago in the village of Ekuse in Benin kingdom, there lived a boy named Osato, he was a stickler who had been ill over 18 years without any cure.

His mother, mrs Itohan had spent all time and money to see to the cure of her only son Osato, but all efforts seems fruitsless.

There was a native doctor and a spiritualist who heard about the sickness of Osato from the next village. He promised that he can cure the boy. That the family should come along with 20 tubers of yam, 3 goats and a coffin to bury the sickness.

When Itohan heard the message, she was so excited and sold all her clothes and shoes. All to see for the well being óf her only son.

Although the money was not enough, so she had to borrow money and bought all  the needed items. And embark on the journey to see the native doctor.

On their way going, Osato hid his right foot on the ground and was about to fall but was held by his mother from falling. Instantly, Osato told his mother I am now okay. The mother was surprised. He said all the pains I was experiencing in my body are all gone. The mother became happy and concluded let's go back home.

But Osaro told his mother it be wise for us to go and see him at least appreciate him because he was the source of this healing.

So, they went to see the native doctor, on reaching the native doctor's house they saw large crowd in the compound in a mood of mourning.

Then one of the elders came and asked Itohan what was the problem and who are you looking for? Itohan answered I came to see the native doctor. The man answered, so sorry he died yesterday. Itohan was shocked and began to cry.

After a while she explained to the men how her son had been sick for many years and the late native doctor said she should bring to heal her son but on their way coming to all the sacrifice for her son , God healed him while coming. So they came to say thank you and my son break through.

The men too became happy about the recovery of Osaro and thank God for his healing and the said to Mrs Itohan "It is good that you have come because the native doctor has no wife and no children  not to think about relations , they are all swept away by nature. They are all dead.

For those items, the goat, the yam and the coffin should be use for the burial of the native doctor and all inheritance of the native doctor would belong to your son, Osaro.

Itohan was left in a delimma to choose between inheritance and the payment of debt. However nature has called Osaro to become the Priest of Ekuse.

After the burial ceremony, Osaro became the Chief Priest of the land of Ekuce and Itohan was able to clear all her debt, because Osaro is now a Chief.
